Arts & Culture Organizer

Location: St. Paul, Minnesota 

Reports to: Executive Director 

Type: Full-time 

Compensation: $60,000 salary, generous benefits & paid time off. 

Start Date: Flexible, ideally mid-to-late spring 2026

Position Summary

The Arts & Culture Organizer will lead Groundwork Institute’s strategy to integrate artists, storytellers, and cultural workers into organizing, electoral engagement, and narrative change efforts. This role builds and sustains a statewide network of artists who are aligned with movement values and prepared to engage in campaigns, training programs, and rapid-response political moments. The organizer will design cultural interventions, develop arts-based political education spaces, and ensure that creative strategy strengthens base-building, and turnout.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of Groundwork’s arts and culture organizing strategy to advance electoral, policy, and movement goals

  • Integrate artists and creative tactics into organizing campaigns, voter engagement, and narrative-building efforts

Network Building & Partnership Development

  • Build, maintain, and activate a statewide network of artists, cultural workers, and storytellers to participate in campaigns and rapid-response actions

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and political education for artists to deepen their involvement in movement and electoral work

Training & Capacity Building

  • Design and facilitate arts-based training modules for Pop-Up Trainings, Fellowships, and Deep Trainings

  • Collaborate with organizers and communications teams to develop culturally resonant messaging and campaign storytelling

Events & Community Engagement

  • Plan and host cultural events that engage communities, elevate impacted voices, and strengthen political alignment

  • Support rapid-response cultural interventions during urgent political or social justice moments

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in community organizing, cultural organizing, movement arts, or campaign work

  • Demonstrated experience working with artists, creatives, storytellers, or cultural institutions

  • Experience integrating arts into organizing, advocacy, or electoral campaigns

  • Skilled facilitator with experience leading political education or training spaces

  • Project management experience with the ability to move ideas from vision to execution

  • Comfort working in fast-paced, politically responsive environments

  • Deep commitment to racial, economic, and gender justice

  • Knowledge of Minnesota’s political and organizing landscape preferred
