Training manager

Location: St. Paul, Minnesota - Hybrid

Reports to: Executive Director 

Type: Full-time 

Compensation: $80,000 salary, generous benefits & paid time off. 

Start Date: Flexible, ideally mid-to-late spring 2026

Position Summary

The Training Manager will lead the development and delivery of Groundwork Institute’s training content, overseeing curriculum development, managing a team of trainers. They will evaluate and ensure each training is engaging, well-structured, and aligned with program goals. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in adult learning, facilitation, and leadership development and is able to apply this experience across various topic areas and delivery contexts.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development (approximately 30-40% of time)

  • Design and regularly update training materials across all programs

  • Work with staff and partner organizations to ensure content reflects current field needs

  • Develop materials that are clear, accessible, and easy to implement

Trainer Support and Management (approximately 20-25% of time)

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage a team of trainers

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing support to trainer team

  • Ensure consistency, quality, and values alignment in all sessions

Training and Facilitation (approximately 20-25% of time)

  • Occasionally lead trainings and model strong facilitation practices

  • Support newer trainers in building skills and confidence

  • Foster a welcoming, professional, and high impact learning environment

Program Coordination and Evaluation (approximately 15-20% of time)

  • Work with Operations Manager to coordinate training logistics including scheduling, communication, and site preparation

  • Ensure sessions run smoothly, on time, and with strong participation

  • Align training delivery with Groundwork Institute’s broader program goals

  • Collect and review feedback from participants and trainers

  • Track outcomes and use data to refine training methods and materials

  • Stay up to date on best practices in organizing, adult learning, and leadership development

Desired Qualifications

  • A deep commitment to justice, equity, and movement-building work in Minnesota

  • At least five years of experience in training, adult education, leadership development, or a related field

  • Strong facilitation, public speaking skills and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proven experience creating and delivering training materials

  • Demonstrated success in managing teams

  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment

  • Comfort with digital tools such as Everyaction, VAN, and Canva
